A 12-year-old boy has been charged with murder in connection with the June 3 beating death of a 2-year-old foster child, Prince George's County Police said Thursday.

The 12-year-old boy will be charged as a juvenile, Prince George’s County Police spokeswoman Julie Parker said, and has been remanded to the Cheltenham Youth Facility.
By law, teenagers in Maryland must be 14 to be charged as an adult, but the ability to waive that rule lies in the hands of the courts.
